  legendary jazz figures: Gordon Goodwin and Maynard Ferguson. Both of thes
 e icons have made an indelible impact on American culture and the art of j
 azz.\n\nGordon Goodwin\, a distinguished American pianist\, saxophonist\, 
 composer\, arranger\, and conductor\, is renowned for his work as a premie
 r music score composer in Hollywood and as the conductor of The Big Phat B
 and. The concert will feature some of his most joyful and high-energy piec
 es\, including "Hunting Wabbits\," "High Maintenance\," "Seven Steps to He
 aven\," "Mueva Los Hueso\," and the tear-jerker "When I Fall in Love."\n\n
 Maynard Ferguson\, always true to his belief that music is about change\, 
 emerged from big-band swing and explored a wide array of genres\, includin
 g jazz\, bebop\, East Indian fusion\, rock\, funk\, disco\, and traditiona
 l jazz. The concert will showcase some of his iconic hits\, such as "Birdl
 and\," "Nice and Juicy\," and an adaptation of James Taylor's "Country Roa
 d."\n\nFor nearly 25 years\, the Critical Mass Big Band has been a corners
 tone of Seattle's contemporary jazz scene\, consistently delivering electr
 ifying performances that leave audiences spellbound. Under the musical dir
 ection of Ian Basques-Jellison\, this premier jazz ensemble features five 
 saxophones (Paul Gillespie\, Barbara Hubers-Drake\, Al Lowe\, Ian Basques-
 Jellison\, Sara Voskuhl)\, four trombones (Jim Elder\, Dave Buck\, Doug Lo
 ra\, Vinnie Christ)\, five trumpets (Marty Molloy\, Jeff Leinbaugh\, Mark 
 Baker\, Greg Klein\, Victor Ross)\, piano (Seth Ahnert)\, guitar (Neal Ada
